Woven cotton cambric
1/4 x 72 x 35 inches
Two narrow, randomly cut strips of black cambric are precisely placed across a larger, carefully cut rectangle of the same material, illuminating the three-dimensionality of the material and establishing the floor plane as a legitimate site.

Cut paper (Plyke Black)
40 x 28 inches each
Matte black paper sliced at intuited intervals. An encounter with light reveals the third dimension of the paper. Intervals appear to be equal but in fact are not precisely so, creating an almost imperceptible tension. Addresses the floor plane as a legitimate site.
